wow.. what a dark episode! and yes, I am a listener! It’s Wong Kar-Wai, surname always proceeds given name for chinese names. In the mood for love is great but his movies kind of has a slight chronical order. happy days is a good one with all the talk about brokeback mountain(good movie!) lately. Anyway, just thought I’d post so you’ll stop that whinging b1tching. Damn, talk about a whinging pommy or is that whinging aussie, same thing ainit.
and where is Sue! Can you give us an update on the new bf? She’s been mia since that new bf turned up. can we hire someone to take him out?
bouncing back from the ether space..

dark? dark??? Hey Tao, glad you’re hanging in there with us mate! Means we have at least 5 listeners! Thanks for making sure I had the name right… but you know, it’s a waste of time people telling me “surname always proceeds given name for chinese names”… cuz I have no idea which is which!! How the hell do I tell which is his surname? It isn’t like chinese surnames are obvious to us dumb western folks.
As for Suw… who the hell knows. She’s like most women, just got us all excited then disappeared and took her affection elsewhere.

Great Show. And no Cameron you are not like Frank in 2001 A Space Odessy. People do listen to this show just not a lot. And Americans like me are not all idiots like you think. But thats your opinion. You have good judgement even if your harsh. Keep up with the good podcast, I just wish more people would lsten to it.
February 12th, 2006 at 8:59 am
thanks for letting us know you are listening Runtylime! I’ll let you in on a little secret - I don’t think ALL Americans are idiots. Some of my best friends are Americans!
Ok, that isn’t true, but I do have some American friends. I usually travel to the US a couple of times a year and love it. Especially NYC and Nawlins.
We’re just having some fun at your expense. Lots of good stuff has come out of the USA in the last 400 years, but you’re a funny bunch. Take yourselves a little too seriously methinks. A bit caught up in your own hype (I know that’s a generalisation).
But Noam Chomsky is a Yank and I like him. And Larry David. Henry Rollins. Lou Reed. David Lee Roth. David Lynch. De Niro. Pacino. Scorsese. Coppola. Iggy Pop. Jim Jarmusch. Bill Murray. David Letterman.
See… I like lots of Americans. :-)

Thank you. I guess your right we do have alot of good actors and filmakers. But sadly we have Tom Cruise. He alone Gives any American actor a bad name,oh well I guess I can’t get to sad. Even if he is acting as yet another hero in mission immposible *cough* 3.
Also I have no Idea what people in other countries think about “Pirates of The Carribean” but since It is one of the highest grossing films and It stars Mr.Johnny Depp yet antoher good American Actor I thought I’d ask about your take on it…..Plus it has Keira Knightley who I have seen on the front of Vanity Fair.
February 13th, 2006 at 7:01 am
Runty, I didn’t min POTC, but then again, I’d watch Johnny Depp read the phone book and as for Keira… well, as my wife is likely to read this (she always seems to read the stuff that gets me into trouble), let’s just say I am big fan of her ACTING TALENT.
As for Tom… I’d tell you what I think of him but he has more lawyers than I do. I am glad he gave us back our Nicole though.
In all fairness, Tom has had his moments where you could almost see the actor underneath the carefully constructed image…. I’m thinking COLLATERAL and MAGNOLIA. Not bad from 31 films.

americans should be made fun of.
do carry on.
February 14th, 2006 at 3:52 am
Not five listeners, guys six listeners and I do listen from the States regardless of coffeebreak comments.
February 15th, 2006 at 3:40 pm
Make it seven listeners! I listen to your show at work. It makes work less “work” and more “less work”. . . Where’s my thesaurus?
February 15th, 2006 at 3:43 pm
Oi, I got number seven! I hail from the “we need a country in the middle of nowhere (from the less educated Um-erican perspective] that no-one really knows about to be mentioned in some silly context in ths scene” often seen in American movies. Since I’ve been to both Edinburgh AND Melbourne I just have to ask when are you goys hitting Tampere, Finland?
Please keep up the good work with The Movie Show (not The Movie Review Show!) since it rocks and keeps me entertained on the otherwise oh-so-dull bus trips to and from work. Here’s for hollering into space!
February 15th, 2006 at 3:44 pm
(Duh. Well, eight is good, too.)
February 15th, 2006 at 3:48 pm
wow EIGHT listeners. Someone call my accountant! We’re gunna be rich paw, did ya hear, rich I tell ya!
Moira, I’ll do you a deal - start a podcast on TPN (Tampere Confidential?) and then I’ll come to Finland as a business trip! Where is Finland by the way? Anywhere near Sweden? I ask that because at this very moment I am wearing my moljnir pendant and I thought it might be… you know… relevant or something. Mring us closer together. Bonding. You know.

According to my offical GW AMER-I-KAN map it appear in that other zone between the Brits and the Russkies with da penguins.

THanks Thomas. Are they “with ya” or “against ya”? Are they part of the “Axis Of Evil” (said in Vincent Price voice and cue house of horror theme music)?
February 16th, 2006 at 1:52 am
Hmm seems to indicate “Not so sure, jest yet” category.
February 16th, 2006 at 11:52 pm
Cam, Sweden is right next door from us, the beloved neighbour (quite like Kiwis to Aussies, really) ;) I’m all for Mjölnir, especially when worn by a hunk such as T-man himself! Even if I personally always went for the intelligent Odin-type.
To be honest, the Finns had their own gods but I’m rather fond of the Scandinavian pantheon, too. Cool myths! Hey, you should do a myth movie special, pleeeeease? Like… what… Excalibur, the upcoming Beowulf and sumthing more?
February 17th, 2006 at 12:48 am
Moira, great idea about the myth movie special! Will you come on with us to do it??
I’d actually love an entire podcast about mythology, Joseph Campbell style.
February 17th, 2006 at 2:21 pm
Oh I couldn’t, I’m so shy (and lacking all the necessary equipment) :) But I promise to listen and comment! Man, Joseph Campbell style… if you won’t do it I’ll be really disappointed because I bet you guys could do it so well. Seriously. You know, thoughtful and funny at the same time.
